In rural areas like Barabanki, women and youth have limited opportunities for stable income. While agriculture and traditional occupations exist, there is low value addition, weak market access, and lack of enterprise support. As a result, skills do not convert into sustainable livelihoods, and many people remain dependent on low-income activities.
We aim to build a Women & Youth-led Rural Enterprise & Livelihood Hub that creates income opportunities through an integrated model:
Training & Skilling: Practical, livelihood-oriented skills
Enterprise Development: Support to start and run small businesses
Market Linkage: Connecting products and services to local and bulk markets
In the initial phase, we will focus on small rural enterprises such as food processing and related activities, led by Women Enterprise Hubs. At the same time, rural youth will be supported to engage in income-generating services and micro-enterprises.
In the future, this model will expand to include:
Farmers (value addition and market linkage)
Artisans such as potters (kumhar) and other traditional occupations
Local service-based enterprises
This initiative is currently in the planning stage. Our goal is to pilot the model in selected villages, build strong partnerships, and gradually expand it into a scalable rural enterprise ecosystem.
