At Setu Mitra India, we believe that meaningful and relevant skills form the strongest bridge between aspiration and livelihood. For many young people and women, lack of access to skills, guidance, and opportunities becomes a barrier to dignified employment. Our Skill & Livelihood initiative is designed to address this gap by enabling individuals to build practical capacities that translate into income, confidence, and self-reliance.
Through community-rooted and learner-centric approaches, we focus on equipping youth and women with market-relevant skills that respond to local opportunities while nurturing long-term economic independence.
Youth Skilling & Employability
We work closely with young people to strengthen their readiness for work and self-employment by focusing on both technical and life skills. Our interventions support youth in developing communication abilities, confidence, and decision-making skills, along with basic digital literacy and workplace preparedness. We also create exposure to local employment options and self-employment pathways, helping youth make informed choices about their livelihoods.
Arti Silai Training Center
The Arti Silai Training Center is a community-based space that promotes tailoring and stitching as viable livelihood options for women and young girls. The centre provides hands-on skill development in garment making while encouraging home-based and collective livelihood models. Alongside technical training, participants are supported to explore income generation, economic participation, and greater self-confidence within their families and communities.
